Move to Aerospace

Divyansh Saini

“I like being close to Elkwater, because it’s not as crowded as other Provincial Parks. Last year I took a week off work and hiked the trails." - Divyansh Saini.

Divyansh Saini moved to Redcliff in 2023 when he was offered a job in Medicine Hat with the drone company, Landing Zones.

He packed his sedan and drove across the country to settle into the Greenhouse Capital of the Prairies, located only 10 minutes from Medicine Hat.

Saini has his degree in computer science, and the company Landing Zones works to replace the helium balloons, that are used to measure the atmosphere, with drones. This would reduce the balloon waste falling on Canada’s land mass yearly.

Saini enjoys the coulee landscape and wide open skies. And the trail systems in both Medicine Hat and Redcliff keep him busy on his bike during the warmer months.

“I wasn’t expecting to see mountain bike trails here. I decided to get a mountain bike and that’s been really fun,” says Saini. “It’s so sunny here and I like that Medicine Hat is a smaller city and is more chill than the bigger centres.”

The trails are where Saini likes to spend his time outdoors. He often finds himself in Elkwater, Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park. The rolling hills bring a nice incline for hiking and beautiful views of lodgepole pine and aspen forest and panoramic views.

“I like being close to Elkwater, because it’s not as crowded as other Provincial Parks. Last year I took a week off work and hiked the trails. In the winter, I booked a hut and winter camped. There were people ice fishing, so I checked that out, too.”

The dark sky preserve in Cypress Hills is also something Saini likes to road trip for in the evenings.

“If you want a quiet area and have less worries, the Medicine Hat area is the place to be,” says Saini.

He also added that there is growing opportunity for those who are working in or are interested in the aerospace industry.
